SOUTH PORTLAND — The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an early morning apartment building fire that left seven people without a home.
The South Portland Fire Department was called to a four-unit apartment building on Hill Street just after midnight Sunday morning.
Lt. Robb Couture says the seven tenants escaped safely, and firefighters rescued two cats and a dog.
He says the fire started on an outside porch and spread to a second-story attic.
