CANTON — Voters will elect five town officers during annual balloting June 11 and act on a budget at the annual meeting June 15.
Robert Walker and Brian Keene are running for two selectmen’s positions for three years each. Selectman Shane Gallant, Percy Butler and Chris Dailey are vying for a one-year term.
The vacancies on the five-member board are due to the resignations of Donald Hutchins and Scott Kilbreth and the expiration of Gallant’s term this year.
Richard Ray is seeking election to the Budget Committee and Andrea Bedard is a candidate for the Recreation Committee.
Voting will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Town Office.
On Saturday, June 15, voters will gather at the fire station at 9 a.m. to decide on a budget for 2013-14. Selectmen are recommending a budget of $574,261, but additional items, if passed, could raise that total to $735,511.
Those items are repaying a loan for $9,500, Budget Committee stipends for $1,750 and paving projects for $150,000.
Budget recommendations include: Recreational Committee, $5,300; Fire Department, $53,172; protection and enforcement, $61,640; Public Works and garage, $130,350.
For animal control, selectmen recommend $4,850; the Budget Committee recommends $5,750.
