Pine Cone OES meets June 13
AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter No. 26 Order of the Eastern Star will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at the Masonic Hall, 1098 Turner St.
The official visitation will be conducted by Rebecca St. Pierre, worthy grand matron. Refreshments will be served after the official visit. All Eastern Star members are encouraged to attend.
The evening will be done in memory of the late great-aunt of the worthy matron, Maryette Smith, past matron of 1961.
Danville Grange meal, elections
LEWISTON — Members of Danville Junction Grange will dine at the New China Super Buffet on East Avenue at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 13.
They will then return to the grange hall in Auburn for a business meeting and election of officers at 7 p.m. Reservations for the dinner must be made by calling 783-6897. All members and guests are invited.
Legion Riders plan tween dances
MECHANIC FALLS — The American Legion Riders Post 150 will hold Tween Dances this summer.
Admission is $5. There will be free snacks, door prizes, giveaways and contests, DJ and light show.
The Summer Kick Off will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 14.
The Mid Summer Get Together will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 13.
The End Of Summer Bash will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.
Proceeds will benefit Camp Kieve for Veterans and the local food bank.
Poland market moves inside
POLAND — The sixth annual Poland Farmers Market will be open every Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. from June 14 to Sept. 27 at the Poland Crossings Plaza on Route 26 (Maine Street) next to the Dunkin Donuts, approximately 1/2-mile from the intersections of Routes 11 and 26. The market will be held in a new indoor location for rain or shine convenience.
During the season the market sells fresh locally-grown produce directly from the farm. Products include a wide variety of fresh vegetables in season, native corn, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, salad greens, locally-raised meats, homemade baked goods including breads, cookies, fudge, deserts and pies, jams, pickles, relishes, maple syrup, cheeses, fruit trees, blueberry bushes, flowers, plants, crafts and more.

Hebron Academy ‘Green Sweep’ sale
HEBRON — The Hebron Academy Parents Association and Hebron juniors will host the school’s annual “Green Sweep” garage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, in Robinson Arena on Route 119. The event is free and open to the public.
Each year a surplus of items is left in the dormitories after boarding students who are unable to bring home all belongings depart for the summer. Unwanted items are in good condition and have been mildly used; they include books, sports equipment, clothing, bedding, lamps, electronics, shoes, furniture and more.

Benefit for family of Michael Biker
LEWISTON — A dance to benefit the family of Michael J. Biker Jr. will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon Road.
Cost is a donation of $8 at the door; children under age 16 are free. All proceeds will go directly to the family. Mikei passed away very suddenly leaving behind three young children.
Guided hikes at Shaker Village
LEWISTON — Guided nature hikes will be available at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26.
Highlights include Loon’s Point on Sabbathday Lake, Aurelia’s Cascade, Old Grandfather and the Old County Road with many varieties of flora and fauna.

PARIS — Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club of South Paris announces its June dance to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Oxford Hills Middle School, 100 Pine St.

New Gloucester Strawberry Festival
NEW GLOUCESTER — The 38th annual New Gloucester Strawberry Festival will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Congregational Church Vestry, 19 Gloucester Hill Road, just off Route 231.
Fresh New Gloucester berries will be featured with New Gloucester homemade biscuits and New Gloucester’s own Hodgman’s Frozen Custard.
Live music will be provided by the Berry, Berry Good Band.
There will be a baked goods table. An actual scale model of the proposed New Gloucester Veterans’ Monument will be on display.

Lisbon Rec going to Amish Country
LISBON — The next exciting trip that Lisbon Recreation is taking will be on Sept. 10-13 to Lancaster, Pa. The trip includes a guided tour of Lancaster and Amish Country, Kitchen Kettle Village Marketplace and the musical “Noah” at the Sight & Sound Millennium.
Other interesting stops are the Mennonite Center and Landis Valley Museum. This four-day, three-night trip includes coach transportation, lodging, six meals and more.
