CANTON — Voters elected three selectmen, two Planning Board members and two people to serve on committees in Tuesday’s annual election.

Robert Walker and Brian Keene, who were running for selectmen positions for three years each, tallied 103 and 118 votes, respectively, Administrative Assistant Harry Childs said.

In the three-way race for a one-year seat on the Board of Selectmen, fire Chief Shane Gallant won by five votes. Gallant received 56 votes, Chris Dailey got 51 and Percy Butler got 22, Childs said.

The openings on the five-member board were due to the resignations earlier this year of Donald Hutchins and Scott Kilbreth, and the expiration of Gallant’s term this year.

Thomas Adley and Doleen Goodrow-Boyce were each elected to five-year terms on the Planning Board. Adley received 112 votes and Goodrow-Boyce tallied 115.

Richard Ray was elected to the Budget Committee with 127 votes; Andrea Bedard received 128 votes to win a seat on the Recreation Committee.

Childs said Canton had a high turnout of 146 voters.

“For the town of Canton, I think that’s a pretty good turnout,” he said. “One hundred-and-40-plus for this town is exceptional.”

On Saturday, June 15, voters will gather at the fire station at 9 a.m. to decide on a budget for 2013-14. Selectmen are recommending a spending plan of $574,261. However, additional items, if passed, could raise that total to $735,511.
