SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — Elizabeth F. “Betty” Rietschel, 91, died on Nov. 16, 2012, at The Coventry in Southern Pines, N.C.

She was born in Phillips, the daughter of the late Truman E. and Martha Connell Masterman. She was a graduate of Phillips High School and the Northeastern School of Business in Portland.

She is survived by her son, Carl H. Rietschel Jr. and wife, Harriet, of Trinity, N.C.; her grandchildren, William T. Rietschel and wife, Stephanie, of Trinity, N.C., Mathew J. Rietschel and wife, Kelly, of Fallston, Md., Dr. Jeremy C. Rietschel of Annapolis, Md., Stephen P. Rietschel and wife, Allyson, of Baltimore, Md., Melanie C. Hartman and husband, Ian, of Richmond, Va., Sarah Chittum and husband, Garret, of Richmond, Va., and Shawn Horst of Richmond, Va.; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Carl H. Rietschel Sr.; her daughter, Janet Martha Horst, of Richmond, Va.; her son, John Masterman Rietschel of West River, Md.; and her brothers, Truman A. Masterman of Avon, and Robert C. Masterman of Waltham, Mass.
