LEWISTON — The Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions graduated 54 nursing and 20 radiography students recently in a ceremony at the Lewiston Middle School.

Having successfully completed the college’s education programs, the graduates were awarded associate degrees in the applied science of nursing or radiologic technology. A number of graduating students received awards during the ceremony.

CONHP President Susan Baltrus welcomed guests, including CMMC CONHP Board of Trustees chairperson Marsha Auster; CMMC Board of Trustees chairperson Richard Roy; and Robert Crowley of Durham, winner of the CBS reality television show “Survivor-Gabon.” The Rev. Jay Turner offered the invocation and benediction. Phil House was pianist.

Crowley gave the commencement address. Crowley, a retired high school physics teacher, is the oldest winner of Survivor and the first teacher to win.

Nursing student Andaria Crespi of Farmington was honored with the CMMC Board of Trustees Award, awarded to the student who exhibits excellence in delivering nursing care.

Nursing student William Markavich Jr. of Mechanic Falls and radiologic technology student Ashley Kearns of Portland were presented the CMMC CONHP Board of Trustees Awards, given each year to the students who demonstrate leadership qualities, display concern and understanding for others, make decisions and assume responsibility for his or her actions, and establish trust in interactions.

Susan Baltrus presented the CONHP President’s Award for the senior students attaining the highest academic achievements to nursing student Jennifer Bowdish of Bath and radiologic technology student Ashley Kearns.
