Benefit helps fire victims
AUBURN — The New Auburn Social Club will hold an all-day benefit for Lewiston fire victims from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 22, outside at 7 Second St.
Donations will be accepted at the gate.
A food and drink tent will be set up with half of the proceeds going to the fire victims. There will be raffles, a 50/50 and giveaways.
Several bands have volunteered their time. The schedule is as follows: Roger Bergeron, 11 a.m. to noon; Jig and The Boof, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.; The Tina Kelly Band, 2:30 to 4 p.m.; Loose Connection, 4:30 to 6 p.m.; The Waps, 6:30 to 8 p.m.; and 4 Play, 8:30 to 11 p.m.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on June 10 were as follows: first, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird; second, Mary Trafton and Luke Merry; third, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; fourth, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; first in B, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird; second, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements; first in C, Cynthia and Bill Clifford.
Winners on June 11 were: first/second tie, Les Buzzell and Tom Goodwin with Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; third, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier; fourth, first in B, Richard Balian and Larry Fortier; second in B, Mary Trafton and Kaathy Burden.
June 17 winners were: first, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; second, Mike Quinn and Mike True; third, Jan and Vern Arey; fourth/first in B, Jim Krainin and Bob Kirchherr.

Car wash benefits PAL Center
AUBURN — On Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a free car wash at East Coast Mortgage Group, 316 Center St. All donations will go towards the PAL Center at 24 Chestnut St.
The Auburn PAL Center provides educational and athletic activities for fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade kids after school and during the summer, not to mention positive interaction with police officers.

Country farm breakfast June 29
MINOT — An old-fashioned country farm breakfast will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Minot Methodist Church, corner of Route 121 and Empire Road.
This is an opportunity to see what our ancestors ate following their early morning chores.
Cost is $5 for adults. Children under 6 eat free.
‘Ride to Work’ motorcycle run
LEWISTON — “The Ride to Work” motorcycle run will take place Saturday, June 29.
Registration starts at 10 a.m. in the parking lot across from 12 Bates St. Donations will be accepted in lieu of ride fees.
The ride begins at 11 a.m. and ends at Water Street Grill in Gardiner by 2 p.m. where there will be prizes, raffles, music and $5 food baskets.
The run takes place rain or shine.
Proceeds will benefit Common Ties Mental Health Services. Adults in recovery from a mental illness will be provided transportation to a job interview or to work until they get their first paycheck.

Herb garden design for cooks
NEW GLOUCESTER — “Herb Garden Design for the Everyday Cook” is the title of a workshop to be held at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26, on Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participants will learn about herb use and function and garden location. Free plants from the Shaker garden will be given out. Herbalist Betsey-Ann Golon is the instructor. The cost is $40. Preregistration required; call 207-926-4597.
Ricker program by ‘barnologist’
POLAND — In celebration of the 50th anniversary year of the Ricker Memorial Library, “barnologist” and author Don Perkins will present a free program about the barns of Maine at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 29, in the Community Room at the library on Route 26.
He will explain in words and pictures the many fascinating results from his surveys about the people, history and wonderful craft work of many Maine barns. For information call 998-4390.
Strawberry festival set
POLAND — Poland Community Church will hold their annual strawberry festival from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Poland Spring Resort, Route 26.
Food items include chocolate-dipped strawberries, shakes, shortcakes, cheesecakes, whole pies or by the slice and lobster rolls.
An art show will also take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All artists are welcome.
The Tri-Town Food Bank will be open.
