1942 – 2013

AUGUSTA — Vincent R. Carter, 70, a resident of Soper Road, Winthrop, died Tuesday, June 18, at Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta.

He was born Oct. 18, 1942, in Greenville, the son of Elwin “Babe” and Helen Hubbard Carter.

Vincent graduated from Lisbon High School and also attended the University of North Carolina. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1960 to 1966, during the Vietnam conflict.

Vincent worked as a government contractor in the Information Technology field.

He was a member of Alfred W. Maxwell Jr. Post #40 in Winthrop and a member of the NRA. He was an avid woodworker, and enjoyed listening to classical music and spending time with his family and friends. Vincent was also a voracious reader and loved solving puzzles. He was a founding member of the Soper Road Bar and Grill Social Club.

He is survived by his son, Josh Carter, of Dallas, Texas; his daughter, Jeannette Carter Blaustein and husband, Jordan, of San Diego, California; his grandson, Ezra Blaustein; and three brothers, Brett and wife, Patty, of North Monmouth, Doug and wife, Maryrose, of Winthrop, and Greg and wife, Kim, of Durham.

He was predeceased by his parents, Babe and Helen Carter.
