AUBURN — More than 200 people attended the sixth annual Central Maine Community College Annual Dinner held recently at the Hilton Garden Inn. The event was hosted by the college’s Education Foundation board of directors.
The event included the presentation of awards to individuals and organizations noted for their achievements or contributions to the college.
The following students were honored: Michael Cloutier of Auburn and Jennifer Woodard of Turner, All-Maine Academic Team; Samson Olayemi of Manchester, England, and Maggie Sabine of Litchfield, Male and Female Athletes of the Year; Fahmo Ahmed of Lewiston, Scholarship Recipient of the Year; Dustin Strout of Lewiston, “Against All Odds” Award; Carmen Edwards of Auburn, Student of the Year; Heather Sturks of Mechanic Falls, Student Veteran of the Year.
Other awardees were Jean Blais of Turner, Staff Person of the Year; Don Varney of Readfield, Faculty Member of the Year; Andrew Morong of Auburn, Coach of the Year; Dan DeBruin, ’01 of Northeast Event Design, Alumnus of the Year; Ray Martel of Lewiston, president of Spiller’s, Corporate Partner of the Year; Dr. Rosemarie G. Sheline and the staff of Center Street Dental, President’s Award.
Proceeds from the dinner, which are expected to approach $20,000, will benefit the foundation’s scholarship fund.
