Androscoggin River cleanup

Scheduled originally for Father’s Day, June 16, extended rainfall meant the river was too high for a successful and safe event, as the plans were to do much of the cleanup by boat. Because of Sunday’s high water, using boats was again deemed unsafe, but the cleanup efforts were carried out along the banks and walkways. Volunteers gathered at Little Andy Park in New Auburn Sunday morning and at noon a barbecue and Baxter beverage were available for the first 100 volunteers at Firehouse Grille.
