CARTHAGE — Carthage Old Home Day in memory of Kenny “Stump” Flagg will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13, rain or shine, at the Carthage Town Office area.
Line up for parade is 9:30 a.m., with the parade at 10 a.m. The theme is firemen.
A themed flower contest will be held. Theme examples are Christmas, Halloween, birthday, fireman, etc. A homemade apple pie contest will also be held. There will be first-, second- and third-place ribbons awarded for each contest.
After the parade competitors can leave their themed flower arrangement and homemade apple pie at the old grange (The Carthage Community Center). Judging will be done at 11 a.m., with viewing from 11:30 to noon.
There is no charge for spaces for the flea market or vendors. Set up is at 9 a.m.
A barbecue will be held from noon to 2 p.m., with a choice of chicken, pulled pork or corned beef, with macaroni salad or potato salad, cole slaw, roll and small soda for $6. Also available until sold out will be red hot dogs and homemade French fries.
The band Brazen Cane will perform from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a dunk tank, three balls for $1. Horseshoes start at 1 p.m., with first- and second-place trophies and third-place ribbons. Kids games will be available.
Drawings will take place every hour, with raffles drawn at 4 p.m. There will be free Model T rides, and the Carthage Historical Building will be open.
