Turner library two days of sales

TURNER — The Turner Public Library will hold its annual book sale from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4, and from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

There will be thousands of books, an especially inviting children’s area and videos, CDs and DVDs. Hardcovers will be $1, paperbacks 50 cents and children’s books four for $1. Some books will be specially priced.

Golden Age Club meeting July 9

AUBURN — Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish – Golden Age Club’s next meeting will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at Taber’s.

July 13 supper at Masonic Lodge

DURHAM — A supper will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at The Masonic Lodge, Route 136, across from the River Park.

Cost is $7.50 for adults, $3 for children ages 5-12 and free for children under 5. On the menu are baked beans, chop suey, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, bread, pickles and homemade pies.

Workshop: food preservation

MECHANIC FALLS — University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer an introductory food preservation workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Mechanic Falls Advent Christian Church.

UMaine Extension food preservation community education assistant Kate McCarty will cover hot water bath, pressure canning, freezing and drying techniques.

Cost is $15 per person; scholarships are available. Participants are asked to bring a potholder and bag lunch.

EL students donate for kids

AUBURN — Members of the class of 2014 at Edward Little High School raised $1,000 for The Lunch Box Fund this spring.

The Lunch Box Fund is a nonprofit that donates money to school children in South Africa. In May the students “met” the founder of The Lunch Box Fund via Skype.

Vacation Bible School in N.G.

NEW GLOUCESTER — The New Gloucester Bible Church will host “A Cyberspace Adventure” Vacation Bible School the week of July 15-19, from 9 a.m. through noon, for ages 3 to 12. Teens can come and join in the fun by helping.

Tables at Auxiliary vendor, yard sale

AUBURN — American Legion Post No. 31 Ladies Auxiliary will hold an inside Vendor and Yard Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at the Post, 426 Washington St. North.

Tables are available for rent for $15 without electricity and $20 with electricity. Call Nancy Ward at 240-5827 to reserve a table.
