SOUTH PARIS — Acclaimed storyteller Michael Cooper crafts original stories using language, movement, and fantastical handcrafted masks. In Cooper’s outlandish tales, he tames a wild horse and suppresses a sneeze from an enormous nose. He transforms into a chicken, a dancing giant, and a pipe-smoking, fish-headed creature who enjoys fishing. Yet each flight of fancy is tethered to Cooper’s rural Maine upbringing.
A protégé of famed French mime Etienne Decroux and Celebration Barn founder Tony Montanaro, Cooper has honed his own distinctive storytelling style in his nearly 30-year career.
“Masked Marvels and Wondertales” will be played at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 13. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $8 for students and kids.
