AUBURN — Elaine C. Cooper, 74, passed away with her loving family by her side and was drawn into the loving arms of her Savior on Friday, July 5, after a long battle with cancer.

Elaine was born in Lewiston, May 1, 1939, and resided in Auburn with her parents, Victor and Dora (Hobbs) Card. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1957 and was a member of the ELHS band.

Elaine married David E. Cooper of Auburn. They were married for 55 loving years.

She had many gifts and interest. To name a few, Elaine was an excellent cook and seamstress. She enjoyed making porcelain dolls, jewelry, quilts and ceramics. She loved photography and was an avid reader.

Elaine was a beautician for many years and owned and operated a gift shop in Lewiston with her youngest daughter. She volunteered her time in several organizations and churches throughout her life.

Elaine, together with her husband enjoyed singing in their church choirs. In the 60s and 70s they were quite active in square dancing. But, throughtout their years together, they especially loved camping trips with family and friends.

For the last 15 years, she and her husband spent winters in Florida. Elaine had a zest for living and a compassionate love for the people around her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and filled a room with her laughter.

Elaine will be deeply missed by her husband, Dave; three children, Jeff Cooper and wife, Diane, Nancy Bower and husband, Mark and Sherri Merrifield and husband, Paul; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
