LEWISTON — Corbin Hyde not only collected a win on the mound, but smacked a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting Pastime to a 4-2 victory over stubborn Brunswick (3-8) in an American Legion baseball game Tuesday.
Hyde and catcher Alex Small worked in tandem when it came to scoring runs for Pastime in the eight-inning game. In the first inning, Small walked, stole second and came home with a run on a one-run double by Hyde. Small did the exact same thing in the bottom of the eighth inning when Hyde launched his two-run homer to help win the game.
In the fourth inning, Ryan Reardon singled and ended up scoring for Pastime (10-3). For Brunswick, Brett Lancaster and Charlie Lowell combined for five hits.
Windham 12, William J. Rogers 1
AUBURN — Windham erupted with six runs in the seventh inning and used 13 hits to silence William J. Rogers with a 12-1 victory in an American Legion baseball game Tuesday.
In the bottom of the first, Rogers got a run when Nate Blais led off with a double. Blais moved over when John Simpson laid down a sacrifice bunt. Josh Delong drove Blais home with a sacrifice fly.
But Windham conjured up five runs in the top of fifth with the help of an Ethan Petty double.
In the seventh, one-run singles by Jack Herzig, Ethan Petty, Zach Conley, Spencer Hodge and Joey Francoeur gave Windham a 12-1 lead.
