Stories in Music is being presented by SLLMF in conjunction with the LOOK summer program. Listen as musical storytellers cellist Eliot Bailen and flutist Susan Rotholz create their magic. Bailen and Rotholz are longtime SLLMF artists who live in New York City where they are well-known not only for their performances with chamber and orchestral groups, but also for the creative program for young people called “From Song to Symphony.” They will be joined by violinists Movses Pogossian and Varty Manouelian and young musicians Cara and Anoush Pogossian.
Discover the Joys of Live Music in a program featuring world class SLLMF musicians playing short selections for clarinet and strings by Grieg, Wagner, Dvorak, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Weber. For the fourth year in a row, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church is hosting this SLLMF hour-long event. This is a wonderful opportunity for those who have never heard chamber music to experience these vibrant musicians up close and personal in a fun and informative concert.
The musicians of the Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival are all top-level professional artists who travel from around the country to participate in the five-week festival which takes place every summer at the Deertrees Theatre in Harrison.
Festival musicians participating at the St. Peter’s concert include Kurt Nikkanen, concertmaster of the NYC Ballet Orchestra; Philip Palermo, associate concertmaster of the Indianapolis Symphony; Elsa Brown, from the Deutsche Symphonie in Berlin; Laurie Kennedy, principal violist of the Portland Symphony; Bonnie Thron, principal cellist of the North Carolina Symphony; Tony D’Amico, well-known Boston double bassist, and Carm Galante, principal clarinet of the Omaha Symphony.
Tickets at the door for Stories in Music are $4 for adults, $2 for children, free for LOOK participants.
