The scholarship fund has nine students attending college this fall. The program has been in place long enough for a second generation of recipients to begin. Alyssa — daughter of the first scholarship recipient, Roberta (Rugg) Andrews — was salutatorian at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School this year. Other recipients are Dorothy Dyer, Zane and Zebb Duffany, Nicole Donnellan and Chris Alberi, all of Otisfield, Frank Montana of Mechanic Falls, and Megan and Rachel Wandishin of Casco.

The scholarship fund was started by the Rev. Gertrude DeCoteau and Marian Culbert. Sales of Culbert’s needlepoint-covered brick doorstops for $5 each started the fund. The recipients are supported through each year they attend college full time.
