100 years ago, 1913
After the damage caused by lightning at the Lewiston Power Station of the Lewiston, Augusta & Waterville street railway, in the shower of Thursday afternoon, and after the transformers had been repaired and were ready to receive the current, no telephone communication could be had with the station at Deer Rips, which supplies the electricity, because the high winds had blown a tree over the wires, so Supt. Bowie made a flying trip by automobile to the dam. The break on telephone communication occurred on the Lewiston side of the Pompilly farm, upper Main street.

50 years ago, 1963
Eleven-year-old Diane Gagne of 32 Oxford St., Lewiston, was praised by police yesterday for her honesty. While walking along Lincoln Street during the afternoon, she found a ten-dollar bill on the sidewalk and immediately reported her find to police officer Ernest Labrie. Later, Roy Randall of Lisbon visited police headquarters to report the loss of a ten-dollar bill on Lincoln Street. He was pleased to learn than an honest girl had found the money. For her honesty, Diane was presented a $2 reward.

25 years ago, 1988
A mailing to 42,000 homes and to Chamber of Commerce members is among the latest efforts to acquaint people with new educational opportunities offered through the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College. The Lewiston-Auburn College will hold an open meeting on adult learners at 7 p.m. July 12.
