PARIS HILL — The Paris Hill Community Club is hosting a Pop Up House Tour on Founder’s Day, Saturday, July 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour will begin at 57 Lincoln St., where tickets can be purchased the day of the event. After touring a restored 1840 Greek revival, with a rescued post and beam barn, you will be given a map and the locations of three other village homes.
The concept of a “pop up” event is that it appears briefly and in surprising ways. This tour will surprise you with two old Paris Hill homes, and then wow you with two unique homes never-before-seen by the public.
All proceeds will benefit the 1850 Academy Restoration Fund. This fund is to restore and continue the maintenance of the iconic structure. A schoolhouse from 1809-1850, the Academy has been the center of village social life for decades. Recent restoration efforts focused on the foundation, which was completed in 2012. Next up is painting the exterior and continuing to work on interior wall repair and painting. The building has been completely maintained and restored through community involvement and fundraisers.
The Academy is now ready for event rentals. The Academy offers reasonable rates for weddings, parties, meetings, concerts and plays. Stop by on Founder’s Day, tour this unique venue and plan your next event. Contact Wendy Penley at wendy.penley@gmail.com or call 207-743-2004.
Come spend the Founder’s Day on Paris Hill and enjoy food, entertainment and vendors. In addition to the Pop Up House Tour, the Bahre family will open their car barns for the 35th Annual Classic Car Show.
