People have come from all over New England and Canada to the Hebron Pines Campground to dress in Middle Ages garb, eat, drink, buy and sell crafts and beat the tar out of each other with Bamboo and Rattan swords. This is the 27th year the local group, Malagentia, has hosted the War. This year, they’ve declared war on the Shire of Panther Vale of Vermont.
While most people coming to Hebron Pines Campground to take part in the Great Northeastern War XXVII were getting their campsites set up Friday morning, Janielle McCosh of Raymond, N.H., was dancing to her mother’s flute at their site in the merchants’ area. The battles begin in earnest Saturday morning and continue throughout the weekend. For more information on the Society for Creative Anachronism event, visit: www.gnewar.org.
