WATERVILLE — The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865 Department of Maine of Norway held its annual convention on June 29, at the Hampton Inn.
The following were re-elected for another two-year term: Elsie Bonney, president; Marilyn Jones, senior vice president and appointed press correspondent; Vicky Myers, junior vice president; Lesley Dean, chaplain; and Gail Butterfield, treasurer.
Estella Bennett was elected patriotic instructor.
Council members will be Michelle Cary, Jane Wardwell and Carman Smith. Sally Sawyer will remain the secretary and registrar.
The charter was draped in memory of Eleanor Lowe, a 60-plus-year member of Tent No. 1 and past national president of Ladies of the GAR.
JoAnn Crockett will serve as chief-of-staff.
Past national president Gail Butterfield read greetings from national president Carole Morton.
Michelle Cary served as guard, Linda Tozier as guide and Donna Runnels as musician.
The 2014 convention will be held on June 28 at the same location.
