- Maine Department of Transportation workers replace a rusted culvert that was leaking and causing underground erosion next to Phil’s Super Variety & Grill in Monmouth on Thursday. According to night manager Shawn Floyd, the pavement started to cave in during heavy rain last week and a large sinkhole began to form around the drain in the parking lot. He said the building suffered no structural damage and the store is open as usual.
