Indoor rummage sale July 17-19

WEST PARIS — An indoor rummage sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, July 17-19, at Ledgeview Living Center.

Proceeds will benefit the resident council.

‘Famous’ chicken pie supper July 20

BOLSTERS MILLS — Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church will hold its “famous” chicken pie supper Saturday, July 20. Seatings will be at 5 and 6 p.m. with a third seating to follow as needed.

Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under age 12.

The building is handicap accessible and air conditioned.

Supper includes chicken pie, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, rolls, homemade dessert and beverages.

HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20.

The Clothing Center is directly opposite the church.

Yard sale features books, stamps, more

PARIS — On Saturday, July 20, the First Congregational Church on East Main Street in South Paris will hold a yard sale.

A retired remedial teacher has donated hundreds of children’s trade books of several different reading levels. Since she taught remedial reading,there are books for the little ones just starting to read, a plethora of picture books and books for older children that are low reading level, but high interest level.

There are multiple copies of many books, with teaching units that go along with them. There is something for all children. The retired teacher also donated hundreds of stamps that can be used for behavior modification.

VFW plans breakfast July 21

HARRISON — The Ronald St. John VFW Post, at 176 Waterford Road, will hold its popular breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, July 21.

The breakfast features scrambled eggs, French toast, pancakes, home fries, bacon, sausage, gravy and biscuits, fruit cups, sweet breads, orange juice and beverage. The cost is $6 per person for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.

Baked bean supper July 26

PARIS — The Ladies Circle of First Congregational Church will host a baked bean supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 26, at 17 East Main St.

The meal includes hot dogs, casseroles, salads, bread and pies.

Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

A second supper is planned for Aug. 30.

Oxford Historical Society meeting

OXFORD — Oxford Historical Society will hold their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Friday, July 26, at the Kay House Museum, 73 Pleasant St.

Tom Cushman will present a program about Oxford in the 1950s and 1960s.

Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.

Dinner for Korean War vets

PARIS — Korean War veterans will be honored with a dinner on Saturday, July 27, at the VFW Post 9787 for Korean War Veterans Recognition Day.

The Korean War ran from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953.

Chicken barbecue set for July 27

WEST PARIS — A chicken barbecue will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Trap Corner, Routes 26 and 219.

The meal includes cole slaw, salads, rolls, dessert, punch, ice tea and water. Cost is $8 per plate, $6 for children 12 and under.

The barbecue will be held rain or shine and is sponsored by West Paris Ring-McKeen American Legion and Auxiliary Post 151.
