WATERBORO (AP) — Prosecutors are weighing whether to bring charges against a Waterboro man accused of shooting a neighbor’s dog.
Melissa and Glenn Carter said they let their two dogs out July 17 as they do every morning. Melissa Carter tells the Journal Tribune (http://bit.ly/1dUzR9V) when they returned 10 minutes later, Tyson, a 3-year-old Rottweiler, was walking on three legs.
They took him to the vet and discovered he had been shot.
Animal Control Officer Wade Andrews found that a neighbor saw the dogs in his yard and shot one. Andrews says the man thought they were being aggressive and only meant to fire a warning shot.
Andrews has turned over the results of his investigation to the York County District Attorney’s office.
Meanwhile, the Carters are stuck with a $3,000 vet’s bill.
