FARMINGTON — A second Bringing Worlds Together conference, devoted to a better understanding of issues faced by veterans and their families, is planned for Sept. 21 at the University of Maine at Farmington.

Hosted by Tri County Mental Health Services/VISTA, the focus for the conference is on veterans and families and the issues veterans face while reintegrating back into the family and society they left when they went to serve their country in the U.S. military.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the conference held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The free conferences started last September and are open to veterans, their families, service providers and anyone interested, Jerry DeWitt, Veterans Outreach Coordinator for Franklin, Oxford and Androscoggin counties said at that time.

Speakers for this year include Cindy Williams from the Veterans Administration and Col. Jack Mosher from the Maine Army National Guard.

The conference is sponsored by the Franklin County United Way with donations from UMF.

A free lunch is offered during the daylong conference and everyone is welcome to attend, Michael Smilek said.

More information will be available as the day nears. Smilek can be contacted at 860-2578 or email: vanishintonight@yahoo.com.
