LISBON — A local couple was taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon with injuries sustained in an accident on Route 196.

Bruce Jollymore, 60, of 7 Woodside Drive was driving his 1998 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on Route 196 near the Big Dipper restaurant when he braked suddenly in slowed traffic shortly before 1 p.m. The rear wheel locked up on his motorcycle, which fell in the roadway, police patrol officer Jeff Picard said.

Jollymore and his passenger were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Jollymore suffered nonlife-threatening head injuries, Picard said. His passenger, Joyce Morin, 55, of 7 Woodside Drive went to the hospital with road rash, complaining of back pain, Picard said.

Neither rider was wearing a helmet, Picard said.

Damage to Jollymore’s motorcycle was estimated at $3,000.
