AUGUSTA (AP) — Gas prices in Maine have inched down in the past week following sharp price increases in the past month.
Price-monitoring website MaineGasPricees.com reports Monday that the average retail cost of a gallon of gas stands at $3.77 a gallon, down about 2 cents from a week ago. Prices in Maine are higher than the national average of $3.65 a gallon.
Even with the dip, prices in Maine are nearly 24 cents a gallon higher than a month ago.
The prices are based on a survey of more than 1,200 gas stations.
