ANDOVER — Andover Olde Home Days continues Friday with a concert by the Noel Palmer Band at 6:30 p.m. on the Common. Those who wish to attend are advised to bring lawn chairs.
On Saturday, Aug. 3, there will be children’s barrel train rides behind the fire station and on the Common, vendors, crafts, games and food. Additionally, Harry and Tammy Hutchinson will offer horse-drawn wagon rides around town.
Registration for the ninth annual Andover Olde Home Days Road Race is from 7 to 7:45 a.m. at Andover Elementary School. Participants are urged to be at the school at least 15 minutes before the race.
A 1-mile fun run and a 1-mile walk starts at 8 a.m., and a 4.5-mile run begins at 8:10 a.m. Age divisions for the fun run for boys and girls are 0-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14. The walk is open to all ages.
Divisions for the 4.5-mile run for adults are 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and up.
Registration for the walk and run is $5; $15 for the 4.5-mile run. The races benefit the Andover Service Circle.
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., coffee, doughnuts, a luncheon and Cookie Walk will be held at the First Congregational Church.
And from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., an Antique/Classic Car Show will be held at Aker’s Field.
The 62nd annual Flower Show and open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Andover Historical Society, and at 9:30 a.m., a bike, doll and carriage parade at Andover Auto.
The big parade begins at 10 a.m. on Main Street, with judging starting at 9:30 a.m. following the 9 a.m. line up.
Among the many other activities are a pie-eating contest, skillet throw, arm wrestling, tractor racing and pulling, and a horseshoe tournament. The tournament will be held behind the fire station.
The Ellis River Riders will also host events starting at 3 p.m. Saturday at its facility off Airport Road. There will be games for children and adults, and a food booth. They will hold an all-day open horse show and food booth starting at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4.
Saturday’s festivities will be capped starting at 8 p.m. with a dance at the fire station and live music from the Noel Palmer Band.
