NORWAY — The Alan Day Community Garden has announced its final three free workshops of the season. The garden is at 26 Whitman St., across the street from the Grange.
On Sunday, Aug. 11, from 10 a.m. until noon, local chefs Anna Sysko of Cafe DiCocoa in Bethel and Kim Hamlin of Cafe Nomad in Norway will combine their talents to offer “Garden to Gourmet.” They will demonstrate using fresh garden ingredients to create beautiful and delicious dishes. Show up with enthusiasm and an appetite.
On Monday, Aug. 12, at 4 p.m., Jeannette Baldridge of Lollipapa Farm in West Paris will offer “Pickling and Preservation,” focusing on the abundance of amazing pickling cucumbers that have grown this year.
On Saturday, Sept. 28, Scott Vlaun of Moose Pond Arts + Ecology in Otisfield will offer a “Seed Saving” workshop from 3 until 5. It will be followed by the annual Harvest Party from 5 to 7 p.m. which will feature a potluck meal, music and a campfire. Everyone is welcome.
The workshops are free and open to gardeners of all ages and experience. Created in 2009 to honor the memory of local philanthropist and artist Alan Day, the garden is a 501c3 organization that accepts tax-deductible donations.
