OTISFIELD — The Board of Selectmen will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on Shore Road to demonstrate the need to restrict parking at the intersection with Silvaqua Road.
The board established restrictions so firetrucks could safely pass through the area.
Board of Selectmen Chairman Hal Ferguson said a tanker truck from the Otisfield Fire Department will demonstrate the problem of getting firetrucks and other emergency vehicles through the intersection and down Shore Road.
“We’ll run it down there and see what the clearances are and what they need to be,” Ferguson said.
The board will then meet at 7 p.m. at the Town Office and is expected to discuss their findings.
The long-standing issue between some summer residents of Shore Road and town officials came to a head when Massachusetts resident and Shore Road property owner Bonnie Jackson and others challenged the need for the “no parking signs” erected by the town.
Ferguson, a resident of Shore Road, said the road was designed for two vehicles to pass and, as long as there are no cars parked along the road, two cars can pass.
