AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine’s first lady is being honored for her support of a new recreation center for veterans and their families.

Bread of Life Ministries, an Augusta-based nonprofit that serves veterans, will give Ann LePage the title of “First Lady of Camp” on Friday during a ceremony at the Blaine House. LePage is being recognized for her help with the creation of the Travis Mills Project National Veterans Family Center in Belgrade.

US Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills lost portions of his legs and arms in Afghanistan. He worked with Bread of Life Ministries to create the new center.

The center at Camp Kennebec will provide handicap accessible housing and recreational activities for veterans and their families. It is expected to open at the end of the month.
