I live on a very strict budget. I don’t own a computer; I can’t afford one. After paying my rent and phone bills, there is very little left to live on. I also have two cats, one that I have had for 12 years, and I’ll be damned if I have to give up the two cats that love me so much and count on me.
But the Legislature has reduced the rent rebate that I have counted on for more than five years. That is terrible. I go without a lot just so I can eat and make ends meet. I am just existing and was even cut down on my food stamps. I try so hard to stretch my money for the whole month.
Look for a job? Hell, what job? There are no jobs, no place willing to hire.
Where are the tax dollars going? I don’t see any change anywhere in Lewiston-Auburn.
I am an honest person, yet I get punished for it in every way possible. If I could get the help I need without having to jump through stupid hoops and a lot of red tape, that would be great, but that will never happen.
So I don’t count on anything. I have learned that, the hard way.
