Colin Britt and his orchestra were voted off the NBC show “America’s Got Talent” on Wednesday night, but the accolades just kept on coming anyway.

“A wonderful experience and lots of media exposure,” fan Linda Galway wrote on the 3 Penny Orchestra and Chorus Facebook page. Galway is from Turner. “You never know what will come of this. Congratulations on showing viewers there’s more to classical music than meets the eyes or ears!”

Minutes after the group succumbed to the whims of the judges at Radio City Music Hall in New York, their fans were reacting on the Web.

“You guys are still my fave,” one Connecticut woman wrote. “This was just the beginning! It looked like a great ride while it lasted and an unforgettable experience. You guys rocked it!”

“You are better than the Backstreet Boys!” wrote a man who watched the show.

Others applauded Britt and his orchestra for performing so brilliantly, it may have turned millions on to the beauty of classical music.

“I’m so sad you didn’t make it through,” another Connecticut woman wrote, “but you did so awesome the whole time, and have absolutely inspired more love for classical music, which is so awesome.”

The orchestra is known worldwide, of course, but they are particularly loved in Maine – Britt graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn in 2003. He his actress wife, Victoria, moved to Jersey City two weeks ago, where the couple can pursue their careers in New York.

Britt will also be attending Rutgers University in the fall, working toward his doctorate.
