HARTFORD — At Thursday’s selectman’s meeting, Harley Swanson, Chairman of the Road Committee, said that the last Road Committee resigned because they worked hard on a priority list which went ignored and they felt their efforts were not taken seriously.

“I realize we are only an advisory committee but we would like to be heard,” Swanson said.

Swanson pointed no fingers, but said Road Commissioner Jeremy Johnson was not attending their meetings.

The committee is very concerned about Gurney Hill Road, which Swanson said was in serious need of ditching. Gurney Hill Road has long been on the list for the board as well.

The Road Committee will meet on August 27 at 7:00. Swanson asked for a job description for the Road Commissioner. Town Clerk Lianne Bedard told him it was on the Internet as it was a state job description.

Board of Selectmen Chairman Lee Holman said they had several roads on the priority list. They include but are not limited to Gurney Hill, Stetson, Barry Mahoney and Sam Annis roads.

The board discussed a gate which someone has put on Bryant Road which is a public right of way, adding the gate should be removed.

In other news, the board reviewed the revisions to the building lots ordinance and approved though Selectman Jack Plumley was not present.

Resident Morrill Nason said that the street signs needed to be taller to discourage the frequent theft of signs. Morrill also asked when the logs were going to be removed from the Hartford Center Cemetery, suggesting residents could come and cut them for firewood. He was also concerned that the cemeteries were not mowed before Memorial Day and brush had not been removed. The board thought the mowing had been done.

A wireless router has been installed at the town office to make WiFi available for residents.
