AUBURN —  The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer a grant writing workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, Sept. 18 to Oct. 2.

Cost of the program is $149 and includes materials. The workshop is an introduction to preparing proposals for funding nonprofits. It is geared for beginners who are prepared for a thorough overview of the process and for more experienced practitioners who seek to build a stronger knowledge base.

Participants will gain an understanding of the steps involved to identify prospective funding sources, develop a plan of approach to seek support, understand the fundamentals of project design and prepare effective proposals.

They will also be given the opportunity to engage in an interactive and hands-on learning experience, raising their confidence level when seeking outside support and increasing their chances of receiving funds.

The program will be facilitated by Christos Gianopoulos, who has experience in personal and professional development, leadership of community initiatives and teaching. He has been a project director for nonprofit organizations such as Maine Audubon Society and the Maine Lyceum. A graduate of Bowdoin College, he also holds graduate degrees from American University and Syracuse University.
