RUMFORD — A person was seriously injured in a stabbing on Waldo Street on Monday afternoon, Rumford police Sgt. Tracey Higley said.
Police did not release the victim’s name Monday night.
A suspect has been identified, Higley said.
At around 3:07 p.m. officers responded to the 300 block of Waldo Street after receiving a call of a “citizens’ dispute,” he said.
The suspect fled and the victim was transported to Rumford Hospital for assessment before being flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with serious but not life-threatening wounds, he said.
Higley said Mexico, Dixfield and the Maine State Police are involved in the investigation.
Details are expected to be released Tuesday.
