Programs at Mount Blue

WELD — Mount Blue State Park will host the following weekend programs.

The movie “Dreamer” will be shown at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the amphitheater.

Poetry and Music Night will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the amphitheater. Long-time Weld summer resident Ron Singer will read poetry from his new book, “Look to Mountain, Look to Sea.” The evening will also feature music from Five Pound Pinecone, a banjo-fiddle duet, with roots in the old-time tradition of southern Appalachia.

Ski swap funds scholarships

RANGELEY —  During Saddleback’s Fall Festival on Sunday, Sept. 22, the Rangeley Ski Scholarship Fund will hold its first ski swap.

To participate, bring used items in good repair to the Saddleback Guest Services Office, 2501 Main St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 26-30, or to the base lodge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.

All winter gear items are welcome.

RSSF supports the region’s young people with scholarships for programs, instruction and equipment. This is a win-win opportunity for you to recycle your used gear, find bargains on new gear and benefit a local organization.

WFGA Hunters Safety Course

WILTON — WFGA Hunters Safety Course will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22.

Preregistration is available at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at  the clubhouse on Route 2.

Spots available on Branson trip

RUMFORD — Rumford Senior Center is hosting a fall bus trip to Branson Show Extravaganza.

This is an 11-day, 10-night tour trip. The bus will leave from the Rumford Senior Center and Fireside Inn in Auburn on Nov. 15 and will return on Nov. 25. The cost is $905 pp/do. $75 is required to reserve a seat and is due by Sept. 9.

Featured shows are Cassandre: Voice of an Angel Show, George Dyer Show, Buck Trent Show, The Haygoods Show, The Dutton Family Show, The Great American Christmas Show featuring Tony Orlando, and Showboat Branson Belle.

Other points of interest in the tour are the Made in America Store, Indianapolis Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
