AUBURN — A longtime teacher, coach and athletic director at Saint Dominic Academy, Bob Boucher dedicated his professional life to teaching students the importance of character and fair play. In an effort to support the student experience and the athletic program at the school, the seventh Annual Bob Boucher Memorial 5K Run/Walk will be held at Saint Dominic Academy at 121 Gracelawn Road in Auburn on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 9 a.m.

Last year, the event raised over $7,000, which benefitted the school in the form of scholarship money, institutional improvements and the replacement of athletic uniforms.

“Mr. Boucher was an excellent example of someone who was always looking forward to his next challenge,” said Donald Fournier, principal at Saint Dominic Academy. “Whether as teacher, coach or athletic director, Bob used his gifts and talents to strengthen his students academically, physically and spiritually. He was the embodiment of the school’s three character traits — integrity, community and excellence — and was a role model for all.”

Boucher spent 25 years as the coach of the storied St. Dom’s hockey program, winning five state titles and earning five Coach of the Year awards along the way. He also coached the varsity soccer team for 16 years and started up the lacrosse and golf teams. During his tenure as an athletic director/teacher, the school’s athletic department grew from 14 sports teams to 33. In 2006, Boucher was inducted into the Lewiston-Auburn Sports Hall of Fame and was inducted posthumously into the Saint Dominic Academy Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008, receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award.
