AUGUSTA — A Vassalboro man who police allegedly found with more than $20,000 worth of drugs was one of 29 people indicted by a Kennebec County grand jury on Thursday.

Shane Leslie Wood, 46, was indicted on a Class A charge of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and on two counts of Class C aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs. He was also indicted for two Class C charges of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, a Class D charge of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and a charge of criminal forfeiture.

On July 8, Wood was arrested by Maine State Police and charged with domestic violence terrorizing and assault against a woman at his home. He was also charged with criminal restraint and resisting arrest, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Later that day, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency investigators, Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office deputies and state police troopers returned to Wood’s house at 48 Crowell Road and seized eight pounds of marijuana, more than 1,000 prescription pills, more than eight grams of cocaine and heroin and $5,750 in cash, McCausland said.

The MDEA says the street value of the marijuana and pills exceeds $20,000.

Wood was previously convicted of aggravated cultivation of marijuana on June 5, 2008, according to court documents.

Wood faces up to 30 years in prison for the Class A charge and a maximum fine of $50,000. A Class C charge carries a maximum prison sentence of five years and a $5,000 fine and a Class D charge carries a sentence of up to a year in jail and a maximum fine of $2,000.
