Dufresne Plaza on Lisbon St. from 5:15-6 p.m. is where Leland Faulkner’s Doc Hokum’s Traveling Medicine Show. Rain location is Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library. Faulkner will take you back in time with his hilarious rendition of classic Americana. Performing as Doctor Henry Hokum, he will bring life to the antique era through physical comedy, jokes and amazing magic that will leave you in stitches.
Then from 6-7:30 p.m. stay for live steel drum music by Chicks with Sticks. The Plaza will be acoustically transformed into a tropical oasis. Known for their street dancing style and reggae rhythms, Chicks with Sticks will be arming themselves with steel drums, and producing Caribbean style beats.
Stop by J. Dostie’s Jewelers, 4 Lisbon Street to see Museum L-A’s 1920s mini-exhibit in a series of panels that feature both national and local events in captions and images. These panels represent movements and inventions that forever changed Lewiston-Auburn and the country. It is a time so historically significant that we can still feel the reverberations today. The exhibit complements Museum L-A’s current exhibition, The Roaring 20s to Swing, which explores how historic events — World War I, the Great Influenza, Prohibition — affected the development of jazz, America’s true musical movement. The exhibition is currently on display at Museum L-A at 35 Canal Street.
On the last Friday of every month from May to September, Art Walk Lewiston Auburn turns the downtowns of Lewiston and Auburn into impressive arts districts. AWLA fills multiple venues, including vacant buildings, and plazas with a spectacular array of art exhibits and performances for all to enjoy.
