Middle school hockey

Lewiston Middle School will be holding tryouts for the 2013-14 season. LMS competes in the Southern Maine Middle School Hockey League (www.smmshl.com) against teams from St Dom’s, Auburn, York, Scarborough, Biddeford and many other southern Maine middle schools. SMMSHL has six divisions, 5 co-ed and one girls only. Last year, Lewiston had teams competing in four divisions, three co-ed and a girls-only team. LMS captured two championships — one in the Braun Division co-ed and a second consecutive title in the girls-only division. LMS Hockey excepts both boys and girls athletes from the fifth through sixth grades who attend Lewiston and Sabattus Elementary and middle schools, and also players from schools who do not offer middle school hockey for your gender or age group.

Tryouts will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Tryout fee is $20. Tryout times include: co-ed grades 5 and 6, 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.; girls-only 4:10 p.m. to 5: 10 p.m; co-ed grades 7and 8, 5:20 to 6:50 p.m. All participants must bring proof of a valid 2013/14 USA Registration to get on the ice.
