Alder Grange holding yard sale

BETHEL — A yard sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, at the Alder River Grange Hall.

Community yard sale

CANTON — The citizens of Canton and Hartford will hold a community yard sale starting at 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Route 140/108 intersection.

The $10 table rental benefits the Lake Anasagunticook Association. All sale proceeds belong to each vendor.

There will be furniture, baked goods, baby clothes, produce, crafts, tools, antiques and treasures.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Aug. 26 were as follows: first, Richard Allen and Richard Balian; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; third, Mary Trafton and Luke Merry; fourth, Cynthia and Bill Clifford.

Winners on Aug. 27 were: first, David Lock and Mike True; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; third, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; fourth, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr; first in B & C, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; second in B & C, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr; third in B, Connie and Ron Reynolds.

AARP chapter to meet Sept. 9

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, Sept. 9, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street.

Lunch will be served at noon, which will include potato salad, ham, veggies and their special dessert. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by Friday, Sept. 6.

The business meeting will begin at 1 and members are reminded to bring their donations for the Food Pantry. The program will be presented by the director of Healthy Oxford Hills, Jim Douglas, bringing members up to date on the most recent options.

Turkey dinner at Deering Church

PARIS — A roast turkey dinner with all the fixin’s and homemade pies will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Deering Memorial Methodist Church, 39 Main St.

Bowling league to start again

OXFORD — The 2013-14 Pine Tree Bowling League will start at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Oxford Lanes.

A meeting and practice night will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9.
