Winners on Aug. 27 were: first, David Lock and Mike True; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; third, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; fourth, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr; first in B & C, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; second in B & C, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr; third in B, Connie and Ron Reynolds.

Raw foods class at The Ark
LEWISTON — A raw foods class will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at The Ark, 791 Lisbon St.
Raphaelle Tisseyre, raw foods chef formerly with Crudessence Restaurant in Montreal, will introduce the basics of raw food cuisine. If interest is great this could turn into a multi-class series.

Understanding new health care
AUBURN — The Affordable Care Act is bringing some major changes to our health care system in the coming months. By the end of the year, there will be new requirements for individuals, new options for affordable health coverage for many Mainers and many new rights, protections and changes to current government health care programs.
The Auburn Public Library will host a discussion titled, “The Affordable Care Act 101: Understanding the New Health Care Law,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5.
The event will walk attendees through the basics of the law and the newly available resources every Mainer should know about. We’ll explore what the coming changes will mean for us, our clients and our organizations. This free program will be held in the Androscoggin Community Room.
N.G. Library anniversary
NEW GLOUCESTER — The 125th anniversary of the New Gloucester Public Library will be celebrated with a special exhibit at the monthly New Gloucester History Barn Open House, Route 231, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
Shakers offer pillow quilt class
NEW GLOUCESTER — The Shakers are known for their expert sewing and tailoring abilities. Join quilter Dianne Devonshire of Raymond and create a beautiful accent pillow for the home at a workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.
The paper-pieced cardinal design is based on a old, favorite design in quilting. All quilters from ages 12 and up are welcome.
Bring your own sewing machine, scissors, rotary cutter and straight-edge ruler. Material list provided at sign up so that participants can select their own fabric.

Library program on trolley parks
AUBURN — A free program on Trolley Parks of Maine will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Auburn Public Library, Androscoggin Community Room, 49 Spring St.
Go back in time on a whirlwind trolley tour of Maine guided by Amber Tatnall of the Seashore Trolley Museum.
The recent release of “The Trolley Parks of Maine” by Amber Tatnall, with the aid of Randy Leclair and Doreen Rogan, features information on more than a dozen trolley parks in Maine. Particular attention will be given to the trolley service to Lake Grove Park in Auburn. Sharing wonderful pictures from the collection of the Seashore Trolley Museum, Tatnall will bring back fond memories for many.
