LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Irene Sutton-Robitaille was celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Manship on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Holy Cross Church of the Prince of Peace Parish following prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. Prior to the funeral procession arriving at church, it passed Irene’s former family home on Pleasant Street in Lewiston as a tribute to her.

At the beginning of Mass, Irene’s children draped their mother’s casket with a white burial pall that signifies Irene’s Baptism into a new spiritual life with God, then Jackie Martin placed the family Bible on top of the pall. The Old Testament reading was proclaimed by Irene’s sister-in-law, Sylvia Sutton. The New Testament reading was proclaimed by Irene’s niece, Joanne Roy. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Irene’s nieces, Monita Cote and Sylvia Langlois. Irene’s God Daughter, Debra Sutton, shared words of remembrance at the conclusion of Mass.

Following a funeral procession to Mt. Hope Cemetery, the Rev. Manship recited graveside committal prayers. The pallbearers were Robert and Henry Robitaille, Dennis and Carmen McIntosh, Debra Sutton and Susan Hoyt.

At the conclusion of services, all were invited to a reception of fellowship at the Chic-A-Dee Restaurant in Lewiston. Arrangements by Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home in Lewiston.
