Barbecue chicken supper Sept. 14

BRYANT POND — A barbecue chicken supper will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Masonic Building, Main Street, Route 26.

The meal includes potato salad, baked beans, dinner rolls, coffee, tea, fruit punch, Crystal Lite peach tea, and vanilla and chocolate pudding.

Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.

Take outs are available.

Free community tai chi class

NORWAY — The Taoist Tai Chi Society of Bridgton will offer a free community tai chi class from 10:30 to noon Saturday, Sept. 14, at Posabilities, 15 tannery St.

The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the United States is a charitable organization that offers classes in tai chi and other internal arts of health. All instructors are nationally accredited volunteers.

This class will incorporate stretching and turning into a sequence of movements that improve health of body, mind and spirit. They also reduce tension, improve circulation and balance, and increase strength and flexibility. All levels are welcome.

A regular eight-week session will be held on Fridays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Posabilities, beginning Friday, Sept. 20.

Free Baptist church supper

OTISFIELD — The next supper at East Otisfield Free Baptist Church will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.

The menu will be ziti, macaroni casseroles, meatballs, sausage, salads and desserts. Gluten-free and vegetarian options available. All are welcome.

PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will hold a dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. Walter Lougee will call for the mainstream/plus square dance and Carol Arsenault will cue for the round dancing. Indoor yard sale at Wilkins House

WATERFORD — An indoor yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Wilkins House on Plummer Hill Road, next to the church.

There are many new items including books, games, household items and rocking horses. All proceeds benefit the Wilkins House and the church.

Finnish-American Heritage Society

WEST PARIS — The first meeting of the fall schedule of the Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.

Following a brief business meeting, Natalie Parsons will present a program on her recent tour of Finland.

Finnish language classes will begin Saturday, Sept. 21. Marja-Leena Bailey is a faculty member in the Department of World Languages at Middlesex Community College in Massachusetts.

Beginner classes will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Intermediate classes will be from 1 to 3 p.m.
