Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club
PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will hold a dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. Walter Lougee will call for the mainstream/plus square dance and Carol Arsenault will cue for the round dancing. The dance will be held as usual in the cafeteria at the Oxford Hills Middle School, 100 Pine St.
Refreshments are always served at intermission with door prizes and a Pot O’ Gold drawing. Admission is $6 per person. Non-dancers are welcome at no charge

Indoor yard sale at Wilkins House
WATERFORD — An indoor yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Wilkins House on Plummer Hill Road, next to the church.
There are many new items including books, games, household items and rocking horses. All proceeds benefit the Wilkins House and the church.
VFW breakfast is Sept. 15
HARRISON — The Ronald St. John VFW Post, 176 Waterford Road, will hold their popular breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15.
The menu includes scrambled eggs, French toast, bacon, sausage, home fries, biscuits and gravy, sweet breads, fruit cup, orange juice and beverage. Adults $6, children under 10, $3.

Finnish-American Heritage Society
WEST PARIS — The first meeting of the fall schedule of the Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.
Following a brief business meeting, Natalie Parsons will present a program on her recent tour of Finland.
Finnish language classes will begin Saturday, Sept. 21. Marja-Leena Bailey is a faculty member in the Department of World Languages at Middlesex Community College in Massachusetts.
Beginner classes will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Intermediate classes will be from 1 to 3 p.m.

Effects of war on kids in Palestine
NORWAY — Danny Muller will speak about “Children Caught in the Crossfire,” effects of war on children in Palestine, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Fare Share Commons, 443 Main St.
Muller coordinates public health and humanitarian aid efforts for the Middle East Children’s Alliance and for the Konbit Sante Cap-Haitien Health Partnership.
Widely traveled throughout Palestine and Iraq, Muller says war depriving children of food, schooling and safety is both military and economic.
In stories and pictures he will talk about how children cope in areas where the impact on them is most dire, particularly in Gaza. He will review humanitarian endeavors, both in progress or on the way, and may touch upon the background to conflict and what keeps it going.
Discussion and refreshments will follow Muller’s presentation.

Rabies vaccines, micro-chipping
NORWAY — Responsible Pet Care will sponsor a rabies vaccination and micro-chipping clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Norway Fire Station.
Cost is $10 for rabies vaccine and $25 for micro-chipping. Attending veterinarian will be Dr. Suzanne Best.

Chinese auction benefits pet shelter
PARIS — A Chinese auction will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, to benefit Responsible Pet Care.
Bidding runs from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with winners drawn at 6:30.
Tickets are $5, $10 and $20; there are also bonus tickets.
The event features more than 300 items. Food and refreshments will be available.
