AUBURN — Michael Hammond led a group of four players to tally goals Tuesday as Edward Little outgunned Lawrence 4-0 in another KVAC matchup.

Seth Sterling, Jared Plourde and Brandon Binette also tallied for the Eddies to complete the scoring. Lew Jensen made 12 saves for Edward Little, while Zachary Alley turned aside 11 shots for the Bulldogs.

Winthrop 3, Telstar 0

BETHEL —  Sebastian Pettit netted a goal in each half as Winthrop outgunned Telstar 3-0 in an MVC boy’s soccer matchup Tuesday.

Jake Hickey also tallied for the Ramblers (1-1) to complete the scoring. Matt Sekerak made 11 saves to notch the shutout.

Bronson Dean turned aside six shots for the Rebels (1-1).

Mt. Abram 4, Wiscasset 1

SALEM — After battling to a 1-1 deadlock in the first half, Mt. Abram rallied with three goals in the second frame to pull out a 4-1 victory over Wiscasset.

The Wolverines (0-1-1) jumped out to a 1-0 advantage when J.D. Souza converted a feed from Brandon Goud. Bryson Walker tied things up for the Roadrunners (1-1) with an assist from Colin McCarthy-Edwards.

Calum Dixon netted an unassisted goal early in the second half, while Mt. Abram’s third goal was accidentally knocked in by a Wiscasset defender. Gerardo Rio also tallied to complete the scoring.

Spruce Mountain 3, Oak Hill 0

JAY —  Nate Goodine netted a pair of goals in the first half as Spruce Mountain hustled to a 3-0 victory over Oak Hill Tuesday.

Avery Noll also tallied for the Phoenix, while Lucas Preble, Tristen Begin and Adam Gettle were all credited with assists. Dustin Jones needed only five saves to record the shutout.

Mt. Blue 7, Skowhegan 0

SKOWHEGAN — Drew Parsons led an offensive onslaught with a pair of goals and five other Mt. Blue players added one each as the Cougars ran past Skowhegan 7-0 in KVAC boys’ soccer action Tuesday.

Omer Hartan, Gage Kennedy, Chris Titus, Ike Doiron and Liam Welch also scored for the Cougars (2-0), with Evan backus notching an assist. Colton Lawrence stopped five shots to earn the shutout.

Skowhegan netminder Anthony Paul saved nine in the loss.

Buckfield 5, Valley 1

BINGHAM — After jumping out to a 2-0 advantage in the first half, Buckfield hit full throttle after the break and raced away to a 4-1 win over Valley in an EWC matchup Tuesday.

Jon Randolph led the Bucks (1-1) with two goals, while Brian Casey and Cam Stevens also tallied. Jake Kraske also contributed with an assist for Buckfield.

Calvin Downey made 18 saves for Buckfield, while Cody Beane turned back 17 shots between the posts for Valley.

NYA 6, Gray-NG 2

GRAY —  TJ Nichols registered a hat trick Tuesday to lead North Yarmouth Academy to a 6-2 victory over Gray-New Gloucester.

Jackson Cohen-Smith, Forrest Chicoine and Greyson Cohen also tallied for Panthers (2-0) in a well-balanced attack.

Jesse Ricardi scored for the Patriots (0-2) on a corner kick by Bryce Haman, while Noel Lobozzo scored on a penalty kick. Austin Kidder made seven saves for NYA, while Brendan McNally turned back eight shots between the posts for Gray-New Gloucester.

Girls’ Soccer

Buckfield 5, Valley 0

BINGHAM — Ashley Campbell scored a pair of goals and Brie Damon added a goal and assisted on three others to lead Buckfield to a 5-0 shutout of Valley in girls’ soccer action on Tuesday.

Naudia Wesley and McKayla Darling each added a goal for the Bucks, while Arrabine Dunn made a pair of saves in goal. Buckfield (2-0) outshot Valley (0-2), 37-2.

FAIRFIELD — Five different Edward Little players found the back of the net as the Red Eddies raced off to a 5-0 win over Lawrence in KVAC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.

Emily Jacques, Cali Murray, Kori Norcross, Taylor Landry and Makayla Norcross all scored for the Red Eddies (1-1), with Kori Norcross also adding a pair of assists. Molly Murray recorded the shutout with 10 saves.

Lawrence (1-1) keeper Ashley Ferrari stopped 13 of 18. 

Mt. Blue 6, Skowhegan 0

FARMINGTON — Eryn Doiron led a group of five players to register goals as Mt. Blue overpowered Skowhegan 6-0.

Doiron led the Cougars (1-1) with two goals and one assist, while Hote Thompson, Kiana Thompson, Miranda Nicely and Lauren Guppy also tallied to complete the scoring.

Thia Bridges (9 saves) and Addie Schanz (1) split time in net for Mt. Blue, while Shawna Quimby turned aside 18 shots for Skowhegan (0-2).

Field Hockey

Oxford Hills 3, Edward Little 0

PARIS —  Jessie Murch led a trio of players to register goals Tuesday as Oxford Hills hustled to a 3-0 victory over Edward Little in a KVAC field hockey tilt.

Tayla Smedberg and Caitlin Bernier also tallied for the Vikings (3-0) to complete the scoring. Caroline Feeney needed only a single save to preserve the shutout. Karli Stubbs turned aside 25 shots between the posts for the Eddies (0-3).

Bates College 1, University of Southern Maine 0

GORHAM –  For the second straight contest, Kara Stefaniak scored a key goal to lead Bates to a 1-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine in women’s soccer action Tuesday.

Stefaniak, who missed all but one game last season due to injury, shot from 30 yards out with the ball first hitting the crossbar before crossing the line at the 82:27 mark.

Stefaniak’s goal finally capitalized on a number of scoring chances for the visitors as the Bobcats (2-0-0) recorded 19 shots to two for the Huskies (3-2-0) in the game.

CMCC 1, Unity 1 (2OT)

AUBURN —  After hustling up and down the field against a tough opponent, Central Maine Community College had to settle for a 1-1 tie with Unity in more women’s college soccer Tuesday.

Maggie McConkey scored the lone goal for CMCC in the first frame, while Megan Carter scored in the second half for Unity. Mariah Larson, Brianna Lajoie, Gabrielle Ouellette and Sarah Trott all played well for Central Maine to prevent a blowout. Lajoie was key in the team’s defensive effort.

Men’s soccer

CMCC 3, Unity 1

AUBURN — Dylan Mawhinney netted a pair of goals as Central Maine Community College jumped out to a two-goal halftime lead and held off Unity College for a 3-1 victory Tuesday.

Jamiel Kidd also scored for the Mustangs (2-0), while Brady Fenderson, Brandon Morissette and Ashir Osman all registered assists.

Jacob Skoville netted the lone goal for Unity, which forced CMCC keeper Zach Jackson to make 14 saves on the afternoon.
