Canvas Creations with Kayla Newmeyer: Create a fabulous, original 8×10 decoupage canvas for your wall using a black and white or color photo print. Bring a large photo or a few smaller choices on regular white printer paper and Crafty Kayla will supply everything else, including the canvas. Two Wednesdays, Oct. 9 and 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration: $20, includes materials.

Career Planning, with Katie Paiton: Learn job search strategies, resume writing and interview skills. Do research to find out more about your skills and career aptitudes. Determine likely career options. Call for an appointment. $40. Free to unemployed residents.

Ceramics, with Paulette Bryant: A two-hour session of painting fun. Choose a bisque item to paint and take it home at the end of the night. Paulette has 13 years of experience with ceramics and travels to lots of camps and events to share her hobby with others. Wednesday, Nov. 6, and/or Nov. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration: $6 in advance per class, plus the cost of the item you choose at the class ($5 and up).

Crafty Creations Too!, with Kayla Newmeyer: Similar to the first class with Kayla, participants will use the decoupage method to put photos or other items of their choosing on glass, wood and other objects. Items will be available at the class, or bring photos, fabrics or other great ideas. Two Wednesdays, Oct. 23 and 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration: $20, includes materials.

Credit & Financial Basics, with Danielle Ferguson of Northeast Bank: Need a crash course on money matters? Learn the basics of budgeting, credit, balancing statements and managing money, including common mistakes and what to avoid. Tuesdays, Oct. 1 and 8, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Free, but registration is required.

Digital Photography, with Jennifer Lamoreau: Learn the basics of your digital camera including some of the more common settings and how to best take everyday snapshots. Tips and options on getting photos processed will also be covered. Jennifer has seven years of experience as a professional photographer. Bring a fully charged camera, extra batteries and instruction manual. Choose from Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to noon; Thursday, Dec. 5, from 6-8 p.m. or Thursday, Dec. 12, from 1-3 p.m. Registration: $9.

First Aid/CPR/AED, with  Laura Catevenis: Receive Adult CPR and First Aid certificates after successful completion of this course. Includes basic first aid intervention, basic adult cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, use of an automatic external defibrillator and universal precautions for self-protection. An emphasis on quick response to first aid situations is incorporated throughout the training. Laura is certified by the National Safety Council and has done numerous trainings for area individuals and businesses. Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration: $65, includes $15 workbook.

Hand-Stamped Cards, with Michelle Breton: See how quick and easy it can be to create your own hand stamped cards. Make a set of four easy, but beautiful Christmas cards using rubber stamps. No prior stamping experience necessary. Not crafty? This class will make you feel like you are! Michelle is a Stampin’ Up! Consultant with 16 years of experience making her own hand-made cards. Sign up for one, two or all classes. You will leave with a different product each time. Classes will be offered on Tuesday, Sept. 24, Tuesday, Oct. 22, and Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration: $10 per class, includes materials.

Hunter Safety: October session based on public demand. Hunter Safety education is important for all hunters and is required by state law if you are applying for a first time license. More than a gun safety course, you will learn about proper handling of a rifle and shotgun, survival and first aid, hunter responsibility, map and compass and landowner relations. This 12-hour course involves in-class lectures and demonstrations as well as home study. You must attend both days in their entirety and pass a written exam. Children must be at least 10 years of age. Those 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult throughout the course. Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 27, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration: $7.

Learn to Knit!, with Suzette Moulton: Have you always wanted to learn to knit? Here is your chance to become the knitter you have always imagined. During these three classes, learn to cast on, knit, purl, bind off and the importance of gauge, by making a dishcloth. Learning to read a yarn label, determining yarn weight and proper needle size is part of the first class. The session ends with a field trip to a local yarn shop. You will need DK or worsted weight 100 percent cotton, hemp or bamboo yarn, and the larger needle size indicated on the yarn label. Thursdays, Oct. 10-24, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Registration: $15.

Learn to Knit – Advanced, with Suzette Moulton: Now that you can knit, purl and bind off, what’s next? Suzette will teach you how to increase, decrease and read a pattern. If you know how to increase and decrease but want to brave circular needles or double points so you can knit mittens and socks, then this is the class for you. Bring materials and a beginner pattern. Thursdays, Nov. 7-21, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Registration: $15.

Mason Jar Gifts, with Kayla Newmeyer: Just in time for Christmas. Make these recipes in a jar to give as gifts to those hard-to-shop-for friends and family. We will supply all the ingredients you need for a few different recipes. Participants will leave with two gift-ready jars. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Registration: $18 includes materials.

Resume Workshop, with Mary Kozicki LaFontaine: Dust off that resume and polish it up, or learn how to create one. Learn how to stand out in a positive way by marketing yourself in a way that matches employer needs. Learn about resume styles, information to include and not include, and “key words” that will be noticed. Be prepared to answer tough interview questions with confidence. Get some great information, and then stay if you choose, to get some feedback on your own resume. Wednesday, Sept. 25. 6-8:30 p.m. Free, registration required.

Snowmobile & ATV Education: Learn how to properly operate and maintain both a snowmobile and an ATV. Laws and responsibilities, map and compass, environmental/landowner ethics, personal safety, first aid and survival skills will also be covered. Exam and 100 percent attendance required. Children must be at least 10 years old. Those 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult throughout the course. Sunday, Oct. 20, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration: $7.

Solar Technologies & Building a Solar Heater, with Bruce Sturgis: Learn how to start saving with solar. Get information on solar hot air, hot water and electric system technologies: how they work, how much they cost and how much they can save. Solar hot air is the cheapest solar technology to implement and manage with the quickest savings payback. A panel will be on display along with the plans and a parts list. Bruce’s research and solar implementation in his own home since 2007 has consistently lowered his annual fuel consumption by hundreds of gallons. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Registration: $9.
