JAY — Water was restored to customers of the Jay Village Water District, including the Town Office, on Friday afternoon.

It was the second day the office had to be closed due to a waterline break.

District Superintendent Mike Wells said most customers had their water back on Thursday afternoon, except for Bucklin Drive where the break occurred.

The line was worked on all day Thursday but when lightning started at about 8 p.m., he left the area, Wells said.

He received a call at 4:30 a.m. Friday from McDonald’s that they didn’t have water. The valve on Bucklin Drive that shuts off the water, a leaded joint, had broken, he said.

At about 2:45 p.m. that joint was repaired and customers got their water back, he said.
