DIXFIELD — The Board of Selectmen will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, to hear a presentation about a program to improve efficiency and cut costs.
According to the minutes of the March 11 selectmen meeting, Wayne Messer of the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments suggested to the board that they look into the LEAN program, a business model where other professionals job shadow town employees to see if there are ways to make jobs more efficient and make suggestions in cutting costs.
The presentation, according to Town Manager Linda Pagels-Wentworth, will help the town “figure out ways we can provide the maximum amount of customer service and where we can improve to help get us there.”
The LEAN program presentation comes at the same time that the towns of Rumford and Mexico are attempting to institute a proposal that would help them share certain municipal services.
While Rumford and Mexico accepted the proposal, drafted by New Hampshire consultants from Municipal Resources, Pagels-Wentworth said Dixfield would not vote on accepting the proposal until after they view the LEAN presentation.
